DivideBuy data breach exposes customers’ personal data

Financial institution DivideBuy has revealed that it was the victim of a recent cyber-attack which exposed personal data belonging to its customers.

Writing in an email to affected customers, DivideBuy confirmed that the perpetrators of the attack may have been able to identify various pieces of sensitive personal data, including:

  • Names
  • Date of Births
  • Addresses
  • Telephone Numbers
  • Email addresses
  • Associated Aliases

The email also revealed that some credit report information was also contained within the material that was accessed during the data breach.

DivideBuy has explicitly stated that the data compromised in the breach did not contain any bank account or credit card information.

In response to the breach, DivideBuy has worked with external specialists to make sure that all data is secure, and that the same type of data breach will not happen again.

As an additional measure, DivideBuy has also arranged a 12-month subscription to TrueIdentity, an online monitoring service which notifies customers if there are any critical changes to their TransUnion Credit Report.
